King Soopers has a significant presence in the state of Colorado on the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains. The stores are located along the Front Range from Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Pueblo, Colorado. There are also a few locations in the foothills west of Denver and Colorado Springs. In 1947, Lloyd J. King opened the first King Soopers store in Arvada, Colorado. His mission was to offer shoppers "friendly service, value, cleanliness and qualityâ€, A few years later, King Soopers had grown to nine stores, and it was acquired by the Dillon Companies in 1957. In 1983, Dillons merged into Kroger.

Tops Friendly Markets is an American supermarket chain based in Williamsville, New York, with stores in New York, Vermont, northern Pennsylvania, and Central Massachusetts. Tops Friendly Markets was co-founded by Armand Castellani, who was born in 1917 in a village outside of Rome, Italy. His family came to the United States in 1920, and eventually settled in Niagara Falls, where his father, Ferrante, opened a small neighborhood grocery store.
Following his mother’s death in 1933, Castellani left school to help manage the store. He continued to do so until joining the Army in 1941. He attained the rank of captain after five years’ service.

Vons is a Southern California and Southern Nevada supermarket chain owned by Albertsons. It is headquartered in Arcadia, California, and operates stores under the Vons and Pavilions banners. The people from Valli were extremely hard working and the small community was like a big family. The Valli roots begin with Alfredo Presta who was taught at a young age by his father, Domenico, to care for everyone and help provide for many of the other families the needed help even though sometimes the struggled themselves.
