Safeway Flyer - Safeway (also referred to as Canada Safeway) is a Canadian supermarket chain of 183 full-service supermarket stores in Western Canada. It started as a subsidiary of American Safeway Inc., before it was sold in 2013 to Canada's second largest supermarket chain, Sobeys, a division of Empire Company conglomerates. Now independent from America division as a result. Safeway Inc. was established Canada as a Canadian operation Safeway Limited with nine stores in 1929. In 1935, it acquired 179 Canadian stores Piggly Wiggly. In 1969, Safeway entering the Toronto market by opening new stores, not by acquisition. the company eventually failed against entrenched competition in this market.
